Despite these troubling times, we were fortunate to have been able to install four new hives to our rooftop apiary this spring! As temperatures rise with the entrance of summer, we plan on expanding and multiplying our hives to establish new colonies and to promote our campus’s honey bee population. While the COVID-19 pandemic has prevented many members of our wonderful team from working this upcoming summer, a few senior researchers of the GW apiary will continue to observe our fuzzy pollinators, sustainably collect their honey, and conduct research of their behavior and response to common pesticides. We want to extend a huge thank you to Founding Farmers for their continued support of our university’s unique and essential honey bee apiary. Be(e) sure to follow our Instagram account, @gwbuzz, to receive updates on the status of our bees this summer! Stay safe and stay healthy!
