Who are we?

GWBuzz is a student operated research center focusing on different aspects of honey bee life and health. We maintain a rooftop apiary on the campus of The George Washington University.

Together with Founding Farmers Restaurant, we are working to educate, promote and learn sustainable and healthy apiculture in the midst of the bustling city of Washington, D.C.

What do we do?

As part of an apiary and research lab driven by undergraduate students, researchers take part in a variety of experiences.

In addition to proposing, conducting, and presenting research projects, researchers also gain invaluable beekeeping skills and interact with local and national organizations to promote honey bee health and sustainable practices.

Founding Farmers

Proud Sponsor

Over the last 10 years, Founding Farmers D.C. has been a proud sponsor of the GW Buzz Apiary and Research Lab by supporting the research of two fellows.

As part of this partnership, Founding Farmers also receives the honey harvested from the Apiary to help sweeten their locally produced dishes.
